01.
Whanaungatanga — Establishing Relationships
At the outset I prioritise building genuine relationships. Through wānanga, kōrero, and observation, I seek to understand aspirations, histories, and lived experiences. Building trust and relational accountability form the foundation of the work.
03.
Mahi Tahi — Co-Creation
Design is developed collaboratively, with communities positioned as contributors and decision-makers rather than participants. Iteration is transparent, and structured feedback loops are embedded throughout the process to ensure shared ownership and clarity. I facilitate collaborative workshops that surface new ideas and translate collective thinking into tangible artefacts — from early visual explorations to wireframes and system frameworks — enabling informed discussion and confident decision-making. Visual systems, language, and interactions are crafted with cultural care and technical rigour. Accessibility, clarity, and cultural integrity are held in equal priority, ensuring the work is both meaningful and functional.
04.
Arotake — Evaluation & Critical Reflection
I conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve any performance or usability issues. This phase ensures the design works seamlessly across devices and meets user experience standards.
05.
Kaitiakitanga — Stewardship & Longevity
Once everything is finalized, the project is launched and delivered to you. The work does not end at delivery. I consider how the identity or system will live on, who will carry it forward, and how its integrity will be maintained over time.
