Huia Building Group emerged from a vision to introduce Māori owned contractors to the forefront of the construction industry. They're a collective of experts dedicated to creating warm, safe, and vibrant homes in Aotearoa. As lead designer, I was committed to bringing this inspiring vision to life.

The Challenge
In collaboration with the founder of Huia Building Group, we developed a series of logo concepts tailored to the construction industry. The design requirements prioritised boldness, professionalism, and memorability to ensure strong brand recognition across diverse applications, including worksites, uniforms, and company vehicles. The final logo was crafted to be instantly recognisable, evoking both strength and trust while making a lasting visual impact.
The Logo
The Huia Building Group logo is a refined visual representation of the huia bird, integrating its distinctive form and beak into a cohesive and dynamic mark. Designed to align with the brand’s identity and tagline, the logo embodies movement, strength, and sophistication, reinforcing the brand’s connection to the huia’s legacy.
Brand Assets
The bold combination of vibrant orange and deep navy reflects the natural hues of the huia bird, seamlessly integrating its legacy into the Huia Building Group’s visual identity.
The brand pattern is composed of a series of huia beaks arranged to form stylized feathers. These feathers symbolise a strong, supportive foundation—representing the collective strength that enables construction professionals to reach new heights in their careers.
We delivered 3 versions of the logo that can be used on various scales understanding that there are various applications intended for this brand. We also developed some other media such as business cards, car stickers and a website to help promote and bring interest to the brand.

I sincerely thank the collaborators and directors for their trust and vision. Bringing this bold, captivating brand to life was a rewarding experience. As my first construction industry project, it was both challenging and inspiring, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process.
