Role: Graphic Designer
Tools: Adobe Illustrator
Timeframe: 4 weeks
Deliverable: Brand Identity and Website
Type: Agency Project

In collaboration with Te Kotahi Research Institute, we developed a brand identity that visually embodies their mission: supporting and growing tikanga-grounded technology in order to better support Indigenous users.
The Tikanga in Technology Logo focuses on supporting Indigenous people to break through the barriers of modern technology and create a digital world thats grounded and informed by Tikanga Māori.

Through an iterative design process, we developed a tohu that balances positive and negative koru, symbolizing tikanga breaking through the waves of advanced technology—ensuring innovation aligns with and enhances Māori ways of being.
This concept represents perpetual growth while remaining firmly rooted in ancestral wisdom, bridging the gap between tradition and technological advancement.
The red gradient alludes to our origin story that showcases our journey from te pō to te ao, from darkness to light, from understanding to enlightenment. This is the vision my client is hoping for when supporting researchers in this field. Directors
